Designing tomorrow today
Do you believe the next breakthrough in user interface design will include multidimensional features such as zooming desktops, 3D visualizations, and virtual desktops? Do you know in your heart there are better ways to design the desktop interface without using the file manager as your primary interface? Are you tired of creating endless links to files and folders and then having to copy them to your desktop or menus? Wish you could recall groups of related files effortlessly?
After working for Microsoft for 11 years designing unique software and hardware prototypes, I've been experimenting with new desktop metaphors that will dramatically increase desktop organization and layout. Not just eye candy as with a typical immersive 3D environment, but a new paradigm in how users interact with the computer with and advanced multidimensional design. With a clear goal of boosting the user's productivity, I've been experimenting with desktop and file manager integration metaphors, and how to best navigate deep information hierarchies in a highly efficient manner.
After recently finishing a prototype that demonstrates how to manage and organize information in novel ways, I know there are better ways to interact with the computer that can reduce user frustration.
If you have an interest in exploring future interaction models for computers, feel free to contact me as I am actively researching many interface design models.
